These service plans address many of our most frequently asked questions or provide direction for specific situations.
Pre-Trial Information Plan: $60/hr.
During the pre-trial phase of criminal litigation people facing probable prison time need vital information in order to make an informed decision in their pleadings.
We provide an explanation on the following:
1. Gain Time Awards:
•How Gain time is earned and awarded.
• How much gain time can be earned on a specific sentence.
• How to define your "85% Date."
2. Intake and Orientation:
• How to navigate the intake process
• The best methods to communicate your job skills and educational achievements to your classification/intake specialist - to give you the best chance to be placed at a good institution and have a good job.
3. Placement At Initial Facility
• We explain the placement process, helping you employ realistic expectations and goals
4. Custody and Security Levels: Work Camps and Work Release
• We explain the different custody levels
• We help you to understand and recognize your best chance to utilize your custody and get to Work Release as quickly as possible.
5. Visitation
We explain the visitation polices including:
• The Approved Visitation List
• The suspension, loss, and reinstatement of Visitation privileges
6. Transfers
• We explain the different transfers and how each can be achieved, and the ramification if applicable.
Grievance Assistance: $50/issue
The F.D.O.C. is governed by Chapter-33 of the Florida Administrative Code (F.A.C.).
While serving a prison sentence you or your loved one may encounter situations where staff either disregard or misinterpret the rules. Most of these situations can be resolved through the Inmate Grievance Procedure.
This process can be lengthy.
To address specific issues we provide:
1. The specific rule at issue.
2. A plan of action to address and resolve the situation, including:
• A draft of the initial Inmate Request required to begin the grievance process.
• A draft of the Informal Grievance replying to the Administrative response (if necessary).
• A draft of the Formal Grievance to the Assistant Warden in reply to the response at the Informal Grievance (if necessary).
• A phone call to the Warden advocating for the inmate, as well as advice for any friend or family member wishing to call too.
• A draft of the Appeal to Central Office addressing the response to the Formal Grievance (if necessary).
• A phone call to Central Office, advocating for the inmate.
Advice For Everyday Living In Prison: $60/hr.
Everyone has a different experience in prison. This is mostly based on your charge, where you are from, and your daily activities. We can explain "Everyday Issues" and how prison society functions.
Administrative Conflicts - Rule Interpretation and Advocating: $60/hr.
Sometimes prison staff need a refresher on diplomacy and rule implementation.
As a friend or family member, if you're having a conflict with prison staff and are looking for the best way to resolve it, we can help.
In one billable hour we can provide:
• The specific rule at issue.
• The specific party to contact regarding the issue.
• A draft of the email you can send addressing the issue.
• Bullet points for any telephone conversation.
• A phone call advocating for you on the issue.
Re-Entry Services $60/hr
Getting ready for release can be extremely difficult when an inmate has no access to a phone or the internet and is relying on the mail.
We are able to provide the following:
• Making contact and collecting applications for housing.
• Connecting to re-entry resources in the community.
• Explaining supervision requirements and how to meet them.
• Acting as a liaison between agencies and the incarcerated individual to accomplish such goals as establishing a bank account, requesting important documentation from governmental agencies, etc.
• Preparing a person for the anticipated stress of living in the world with a felony conviction.
Community Services $60/hr
Being released doesn't mean the impact of incarceration isn't still there, especially if you are under supervision.
We are able to provide the following:
• Coaching/support for help with adjusting back to the "free world".
• The grievance process as it applies to supervision.
• Tips and tricks on how to handle probation.
• Connection to resources for people with felony convictions.
• Help with locating halfway houses and drug treatment.
• Re-integrating back into family life.
• How to best support a loved one coming out of the prison system.
• Applicable rules and laws for convicted felons.
